(Press Release)

Singapore, 29 September 2025 – Hao Ren Hao Shi (HRHS) (好人好事), a non-profit organisation that attained Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status in December 2024, has achieved a major milestone by raising S$1,865,922 at its first-ever Charity Dinner.

Held this evening at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, the dinner was attended by Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong. More than 500 guests attended the event which marked a celebration of compassion, community, and collective impact. The funds raised will go towards uplifting the lives of the underprivileged and low-income families across Singapore - by providing them access to essential provisions, and by fostering a culture of volunteerism among the youth and wider community.

Founded on the belief that dignity should never be compromised by circumstance, HRHS’ flagship Mobile Groceries distributions deliver essential food and household items to over 2000 households every month, bringing them convenience and confidence. Its community-led Happy Marts in Stirling Road and Fernvale serve over 800 residents-in-need monthly, offering access to more than 150 essential items in a setting that ensures food stability and assurance.

Founding Chairman’s Gratitude

Mr Anson Ng, Founding Chairman of HRHS, expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support:

"We are deeply grateful for the generosity extended to us tonight. To receive this level of support at our first fundraising dinner is both humbling and uplifting. As a small and growing charity, we cherish every contribution and appreciate the trust placed in us. With the community’s support, our reach can grow wider and more impactful, helping more families who are struggling with essential needs and inspiring the next generation to live with empathy. This evening is not just a fundraiser but a testament to the shared vision of a compassionate and inclusive Singapore. Together, we demonstrate that no one in Singapore needs to be left behind.”

A Remarkable Moment of Giving

The evening reached a memorable high point when Mr Andrew Tan, Chairman & Managing Director of TAK Products & Services Pte Ltd, surprised guests with a generous pledge of S$1 Million. This extraordinary gesture created an inspiring moment for all attendees, underscoring not only the spirit of generosity but also a profound commitment to furthering the organisation’s mission and impact.

A Night of Connectedness & Intergenerational Unity

Anchored on an inspirational theme of “Let’s Do Good Together”, the evening’s programme featured moving personal stories from HRHS beneficiaries and volunteers; a Gamelan performance by students of Lianhua Primary School that symbolised harmony and resilience; heartfelt singing performances by Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Law & Ministry of Social and Family Development, Mr Eric Chua, and Member of Parliament Mr Cai Yinzhou; and a rousing finale of collective singing that filled the ballroom with unity and hope.

A lively auction hosted by veteran entertainer Ms Liu Ling Ling had the audience in stitches, filling the room with laughter and excitement. The audience was further inspired by the generosity of Dr Sam Goi who magnanimously re-donated the items he successfully bid on to help raise even more funds.

With more than 100 volunteers (ranging from school children as young as 10 years old to families, retirees, and working adults of varied ages) contributing to the event, the night’s success is a tribute to the connectedness and intergenerational impact HRHS has on the community. It was truly a night where the gotong-royong (kampong / community) spirit - aptly captured in the visual rattan weave motif - was demonstrated in action.

Carrying Forward The Spirit of Giving - Together

This evening’s event is more than a celebration of generosity; it marks the beginning of a stronger, united movement towards a kinder, and more inclusive Singapore. This milestone will strengthen HRHS’ ability to support underprivileged and low-income families by extending its reach, and creating lasting and positive impact through collective care and action.
